Department of ECONOMICS

Department of Economics was established in the year 1956 and has the distinction of  teaching the subject for the students of all streams. Economics is offered as a core subject for BA and as an open elective subject for B. Com and B. Sc. Year after year, the department has  been successfully producing quality conscious and bright youngsters who are stepping out as  enthusiastic citizens. The main goal of the department is to create a spirit of socio-economic  consciousness and ethical values among the present generation. Department Activities

The Department of Economics conducts industrial visits, seminars, lectures, elocution competition, collage competition, humanities fest, National handloom day and awareness talks such as eradicate corruption, significance of body language etc. The department also invites eminent speakers to deliver talks on current affairs in Economics. The department in collaboration with Mysore Education Society conducts Nobel Insight Lecture on Economic Sciences every year.

Department of HISTORY

The Department of History was established in the year 1957. It mainly flourished under the  leadership of Prof. Venkatakrishna Iyengar, Prof. Parimala, Prof. Sumithra, Prof. Sheshadhri, Prof.  Manjunath and Prof Dr. Ramanjaneya P. At present the Department is ably run by Smt. Maheshwari  N Kumar, Head of the Department. The Department of History is dedicated to help students  understand the present-day scenarios of the world through the tales of the past. With each session  covering different areas of history that altered with the future to come, we encourage students to learn  the dynamicity of the world around them. The curriculum is crafted carefully knitting information into  tales, trajectories, and theories. The aim is to expose students to the information that helps them trace  the causes and effects that have led to the world as we know it today.

Department of physics

The department was established in the year 1969. At present there are 5 teaching faculty members who are qualified and committed to facilitate students to learn Physics and to develop their analytical thinking. Physics is offered as a core subject for B.Sc students and as an open elective for BA and B.COM students. There are three well-equipped exclusive Physics labs for all BSc students, 2 skilled support staff are involved in maintaining all the three laboratories. The faculty have held various positions such as IQAC Coordinator, MES Co-operative Society-Board of Directors and prominent portfolios such as Admission Committee Convenor, Examination Cell Convenor, Staff Secretary, Member-Library Committee, Time table Committee, Placement cell, Science Club, IT Cell and Member-IQAC and also members of BOS and BOE of BU, BCU and various other universities and autonomous institutions. Department is instrumental in conducting workshops to discuss blowup syllabus (NEP). The Department of Electronics was established in 1988. The strength of the department lies in the team of highly motivated and qualified faculty.
The aim of the department is to provide the necessary theoretical background and practical experience in the subject of Electronics.
The spacious laboratory is well equipped with computers with various circuit simulation software for students. It provides personalized attention to the needs of every student. The number of students taking the subject of Electronics is around 50.

Post Graduate Department of Mathematics

  • The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics is established in the year 1987, formerly affiliated to Bangalore University is now under Bengaluru City University.
  • The department got upgraded as Research Centre in applied mathematics due to its active involvement in research in the year 2005.
  • The primary focus of this Centre is to inculcate research culture in students and faculty.
  • Till date 34 batches of students have been successfully completed the M.Sc. program from the department.
  • Seven students are conferred with Ph. D. from the research Centre.
    Presently three students are pursuing Ph. D.
  • The Department encourages the students for research, cultural and sports activities along with academics.
