Department of ECONOMICS

Department of Economics was established in the year 1956 and has the distinction of  teaching the subject for the students of all streams. Economics is offered as a core subject for BA and as an open elective subject for B. Com and B. Sc. Year after year, the department has  been successfully producing quality conscious and bright youngsters who are stepping out as  enthusiastic citizens. The main goal of the department is to create a spirit of socio-economic  consciousness and ethical values among the present generation. Department Activities

The Department of Economics conducts industrial visits, seminars, lectures, elocution competition, collage competition, humanities fest, National handloom day and awareness talks such as eradicate corruption, significance of body language etc. The department also invites eminent speakers to deliver talks on current affairs in Economics. The department in collaboration with Mysore Education Society conducts Nobel Insight Lecture on Economic Sciences every year.

Department of HISTORY

The Department of History was established in the year 1957. It mainly flourished under the  leadership of Prof. Venkatakrishna Iyengar, Prof. Parimala, Prof. Sumithra, Prof. Sheshadhri, Prof.  Manjunath and Prof Dr. Ramanjaneya P. At present the Department is ably run by Smt. Maheshwari  N Kumar, Head of the Department. The Department of History is dedicated to help students  understand the present-day scenarios of the world through the tales of the past. With each session  covering different areas of history that altered with the future to come, we encourage students to learn  the dynamicity of the world around them. The curriculum is crafted carefully knitting information into  tales, trajectories, and theories. The aim is to expose students to the information that helps them trace  the causes and effects that have led to the world as we know it today.

Department Activities

The Department of History conducts visits to places with historical significance, heritage walks, seminars, lectures, humanities fest, and National handloom day. It also  association with Mythic Society, Bangalore and encourages the students towards gaining  practical exposure of the subject.

  • Inter collegiate events are conducted on account of Gita Jayanti  celebration every year.
  • Sanskrit students are sent from the Department to teach Govt  school students some activity like painting etc.
